I was able to set the Sentelic touchpad in an ASUS ZenBook UX21E to absolute positioning mode which allows side-scrolling and enable some support for multitouch by accessing register 0x90 and patching the kernel driver.

Sentelic has crippled the driver due to patent scares by removing absolute positioning, even though it was in the original source. Yes, the way this senelic originally works in Lucid, and then skitzes is driving me crazy too. It is recognized out of the box, but you cannot configure the touchpad except as root using echo commands. However, I have not made a dkms package before. Save the file then reboot. But there are alot of noobs out there inlcuding me.

Is there a fundamental difference between Lucid and Karmic? Oskari, I am told by the engineer at Sentelic who I spoke to that the quality of the absolute positioning output is not sufficient for it to be used as pointer input.
I’m not aware of any roadmap – my first goal was just to get absolute mode working with two finger scrolling, which I consider the absolute minimum to make it usable. I love this little setelic especially after U touchpad loaded WIN 7 onto it.
