If you update your kernel you should repeat steps 0 to 3 it worked for me when I updated to 2. If you want a terminal utility you could use wvdial, it is the tool that gnome-ppp uses, I think.
Sorry for the incovenience. The following packages have unmet dependencies. Selecting previously deselected package dpkg-dev. Also I would want to ask how to creat a conection with wvdial or something? Now I uninstall and reinstall with logs in mind.

Intel MD3200 intel 537 Modem Driver
Modem port was autodetected and I was able to activate the connection. Fresh install of edgy on a dell dimension when i go to use gnome-ppp and select detect modem it tells me i don’t have a modem installed.

Okey I have just done that, I still get the same ingel when I “make ” it though. Also, what is your kernel? Will this driver work with the EP modem?
